Hop Skip and Jump provide support for children with any additional need, from complex physical conditions to special educational needs and behavioural problems. HS&J offer thousands of placements every year; care and support for children with help and advice for their families. Through targeted therapy sessions – after school care, weekend respite, teens and twenties clubs – Hop Skip and Jump provide valuable support to our community.
Our aim is to prevent family breakdown, allowing parents and carers some time off from the responsibilities of full-time care. This valuable time allows parents the opportunity to spend time with their other children, their partner or simply just catch up on some lost sleep. For many of the families we support caring is a 24 hour a day job. Giving these parents just a short break really can mean the world.
Hop Skip and Jump occupy an extensive site in Shaw with a large soft play area, sensory rooms and acres of gardens. Whilst at Hop Skip and Jump children encounter a sense of freedom and space in a relaxed, encouraging environment. Through targeted support we help our users develop valuable life skills that will help promote independent lifestyles.
In addition to the site in Shaw, Hop Skip and Jump have recently opened a brand new site in The Brunel Shopping Centre, providing short term care in the heart of Swindon. This centre is the first of its kind in the country and marks the flagship project in HS&J’s Care in the High Street campaign. Launched at 10 Downing Street in June, this initiative aims to make support for the disabled a key part of town centre planning for many years to come. By providing care that is easily accessible, HS&J will be able to reduce social isolation and encourage families to newly access high streets all across the country.
