The Rowdy Bunch is a youth club for young people in Swindon with learning and physical disabilities. The club is a registered charity and is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.
We run a Friday night youth club during school term time, and offer activities including arts and crafts, cookery sessions, board games, and sporting activities such as football and boccia. We arrange ad-hoc trips out such as a day at the seaside or an evening at the panto! Where funding allows we organise an annual activities holiday where the young people, regardless of disability, can experience the thrill of abseiling, rock climbing, canoeing and much more. Thanks to Swindon Cares amazing fundraising efforts in 2011- we have been able to book the Calvert Trust in Exmoor to take a group of our young people away in August 2012!
We are proud to offer the opportunity for the young people of the Rowdy Bunch to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s award scheme. By providing these services the Rowdy Bunch not only benefits the young people that attend the club, but also provides respite for their families and carers.
Through our activities the Rowdy Bunch aims to challenge disability and encourage independence, whilst developing life, social skills and confidence in a safe and equal environment.
